Game Informer is considered generally reliable for video games. Originally shut down by GameStop in August 2024 with website content no longer accessible unless archived, Neill Blomkamp's company Gunzilla Games purchased the brand and site, which went back up in March 2025, with all staff returning from time at closing, and an aim for the publication to retain total editorial independence.
